Weekend Roundup
We’ve not done a lot purposely this weekend, I wanted to relax before Malc started work.
On Saturday my Mum opened our front door at 9am and my sister followed 30 minutes later. We were all up, but not all of us were dressed. Kay had a cuppa with us and Mum stayed to lunch, when everybody had left Malc cut the front lawn, Eden strimmed round the edges for him, Clark and I peeled loads of veg for a stew for tea.
Mum took Callum home with her for the afternoon, she brought him back in time for tea and she then took Eden, Callum and Clark back with her to watch Dr Who. The plan was that Eden and Clark were going to stay the night, but when Malc went to pick Callum up, Clark decided that he wanted to come home too.
I was in bed by 9-15pm as I was shattered, ( too much doing nothing!) I was woken at 10-30pm by voices outside our bedroom window, it was hot so I’d left it open. We are on the corner of our road and people often use it as a shortcut through to the main road, the road is shut to traffic, but people walk through.
Anyway, I looked bleary eyed out the window to find four youths, 1 boy and 3 girls, opening a bottle of wine on our wall, complete with bottle opener in hand. I asked them not to throw the bottle over the wall when they’d finished, they said they wouldn’t so I bade them goodnight, when the cheeky lad said he would see me in the morning! So I told him, in his dreams and went back to bed, a couple of minutes later I heard the sound of the wine bottled being sucessfully opened and looked out again, they were now standing there drinking from the bottle. So I opened the window again and asked them if they would like some plastic cups, they responded very enthusiastically, so I went downstairs and got them some. Went outside and gave them the cups to profuse thanks, told them if they were going to drink they should do it with finesse at least! And off they went, the lad still promising me that he would see me in the morning, he must have been very drunk indeed!! I gave him a wink!
Unfortunately by now I was wide awake, and switched on the computer and ended up going to bed at 1am!!
Got up this morning, peered out the window, but no lad was waiting for me!!
We went to my sisters and had some lunch with her. Got home and I went round to see one of our neighbours, now we don’t speak to most of our neighbours, but these people are lovely, they’re in their 60’s and don’t have a computer and Maureen wanted me to look up a country singer for her, so I went back with the information, she was showing me some of her records and she had one of Jim Reeves, that I can remember my parents playing when I was younger, showing my age now!
A little later Maureen came round and knocked on the door, she’d taped the LP for me, bless her. So I’m going to listen to that later, I might shed a happy tear or two remembering my dear old Dad.
At the moment the children are sorting out all their work for our LEA visit tomorrow, all finished work is being put into files, they’re quite excited at the prospect of showing off all their work.
I’ve finished off writing my report, keep your fingers crossed and wish us luck!
