Those magnificent men in their flying machines!
Friday night went brilliantly, our new friends came over, we had tea, drank a little, well OK, a lot then, they left about 11pm.
Saturday was spent around the house not feeling my best, catching up on jobs and relaxing in betwwen, trying to get the energy and motivation to do the next job. Alcohol, never again, until the next time anyway!
I’ve finally uploaded some pictures of the Bank Holiday weekend, us in our caravan , so here they are.
Malc eating breakfast
Soloman having a quiet moment.
Eden eating breakfast.
I had to put this photo on, Clark took it of Eden and I think it’s pretty good.
All over this weekend we’ve had an air festival going on in Bournemouth, with air displays, parachutists, and the Red Arrows. The Red Arrows come to Bournemouth every year and we always go to watch them. They really are fantastic. This year we totally forgot about them.
On Sunday we arranged to meet some of our friends at Whitecliff. We got there early so that we could walk the dogs before we met them. We arrived and hearing sirens behind us feared the worst, Malc swears he was only doing 30mph !! But they didn’t want us, it was actually the Coastguard arriving. There’s a big circle with a "H" in it for the coastguard helicopter to land in to transfer people rescued at sea into an ambulance there, so we guessed this might be happening, within two minutes and ambulance arrived and very quickly we could see the helicopter in the sky. Luckily we had the camera and Eden managed to get some photos.
It really was amazing, the helicopter just landed in the middle of the park, the sad thing is that the children were so excited, but you have to remember that somebody was probably seriously injured for this to happen. You forget in the excitement of being that close to a helicopter.
The children played in the swing park for a couple of hours. We saw the Red Arrows in the distance, mainly because of the red, white and blue trails behind them, the planes were just specks, but as we were leaving the park they must have finished their display and were heading off to where- ever when they did a diamond formation and flew right above us. Amazing stuff.
Today we were back to school work with avengence. Eden did some Maths, in my day we called it " borrowing one" when the top number was smaller than the number you were taking away, nowadays they call it " renaming" Never heard of it !! Clark did some writing of the alphabet, Callum read a story and then answered questions about it. They all read to me and then I read Chapter One of Peter Pan, which is our family reading book at the moment.
Here’s our official "first day of term" photo.
They did their Sketch Tuesdays which I’ll post the pics of tomorrow. Then this afternoon Eden spent a lot of time in her bedroom reading and poor Clark exhausted fell asleep on the sofa. Soloman and Callum had some imaginary play with a forest and a village, unfortunately the poor vilage was blasted sky high by a giant, as that’s what happens to villages created by a 3 year and 8 year old!!
This was taken before disaster and the giant struck!!
