No Frost Please!

We had a good morning, I sat with Callum and Clark separately and checked what they could do, whilst I was with one the other one read to Malc. It’s amazing when you write things down how much we have done and they have learnt, I said a little while back that Clark would be able to read CVC words soon, lo and behold, today he sounded out "bat" and " cat" he even read "bottle" without help. This wasn’t even during reading his book, it was doing a matching up the end sounds of words. When I praised him, rather lavishly because I was so surprised, the look of pride on his face was a picture!

Callum did some maths so that I could see where he’s at, I’ve been checking on times tables, Cal knows, 2’s, 5’s 10’s, so we’ll start on harder ones.

We did some work on vowels today.

Clark can count to 100, recognise numbers to 20 without any difficulty at all, count to 100 in 10’s. He knows all his phonics.

We mainly do everything as a family here, only reading, English and Maths is done at their own levels.

So I also went through the things we do as a family, with each child picking up the topic at the own level. We do Sketch Tuesday, Flat Travellers, which is a big project with many things linking from it, read alouds, things like Earth Hour, Gardening, from seedlings to cutting , cooking and freezing our veg.

Silly things like Smoothie recipes, SHE competition( not that that’s silly!)

Things like National Year of Reading events, nature walks with questionaires, planning parties, from food to games, invitation lists, lots of cooking and following recipes.

We also go to a lot of events held by our Library, our local church.

Looking at it I think we do quite a lot of varied activities. Now I’ve managed to convince myself the visit will be fine, I’ll continue with our day!

Eden slept down Grandmas, apparently she wouldn’t get out of bed until Grandma took a photo of her in bed with Bratz, now Bratz is no dumb blonde I can tell you, they played scrabble together! Eden took all these photos with her camera but unfortunately we are having a problem uploading them, so Malcs going to look at the later, hope to post photos tomorrow.

Imagine our delight when Flat Pig arrived from Tennesse this dinnertime! It’s already had it’s photo taken with the rabbit!

Mum brought Eden home about 3pm, Malc had been putting in my canes for the runner beans, so we all went out into the garden, the runner beans are out, let’s hope the weather stays warm, no cold spells please, we sown, peas, lots and lots of peas, some on loo rolls and we’ve even chanced a row in the garden because we had so many pea seeds.

We’ve planted out Petunias, Black eyed Susan and Nasturtiums in my planters that hang on the house and garden fence, we’ve also put Black Eyed Susan in a pot with some canes to climb up and also planted Impatients in an oblong trough.

We’re thinking that we’re going to have to extend the veg patch because I’ve still got Spring onions, beetroots, tomatos and leeks to put out, the veg patch is half full of potatos already. Oh how I long for an allotment!!

Malc took Eden to Guides, where they had a bar-b-que, apparently Eden was the only one in her group that could flip a beefburger! I’m such a bad Mum making my children cook, clean and tidy, you know those life skills that they will need later on in life!!
