Are Firemen getting younger or am I getting older?

Friday was spent doing loads of housework as we had people visiting over the weekend. Because we’ve been so busy over the week housework has been neglected, yes, I know , shock horror!

Eden and Callum changed all four of the boys beds, stripped them and remade them whilst I faffed about with the hoover upstairs and got rid of the black ring around the bath!

Malc arrived home at dinnertime, the children were rewarded with DVD watching for all their hard graft in the morning.

Saturday, we did the normal housework, the children played out on their scooters until about 1pm when our visitors arrived. Malc and I lived next door to Marion when we lived in  Essex, LBC ( Life Before Children!) She now lives in Scotland with Stephen and her daughter. They drove to Oxford on Friday, stayed there the night and travelled down to us on Saturday. They arrived with a boot full of books, games and lots of useful stuff for the children. They thought it was Christmas!  We had some lunch and then sorted through everything, I now have a copy of "The Railway Children " the children have loads more books to look through, Eden sorted through and has put her "stash" in her room.

We spent the afternoon chatting, Stephen was roped into playing draughts with Eden and Callum, Clark, Marion and I played "Mastermind" whilst chatting.

Mum came up for tea and left about 7pm.

Cody getting every last bit out of his dish, well it was peaches and cream!

Marion and Stephen planned on leaving about 8ish, after a game of "Go for Broke" they left at about 9-20pm. They went back to Oxford and will continue the rest of their journey today.

Sunday morning we were up very early (5am) I’m not sure what’s wrong with Cody but he was screaming the place down, I’m sure our neighbours were delighted. I did say to Malc it comes to something when your childs screaming and you’re first thought is how much noise he’s making not what’s wrong with him!

Anyway he settled down after about 45 minutes and we managed to doze for a while until Soloman woke.

I took the dogs over the field with Soloman, Mum took Eden and Callum shopping with her.Fire station open day

Another set of  friends turned up at 1pm and we walked down to our local fire station because they had an open day today.

I’d put my best bra and knickers on for the occasion Dressed for a lovely sunny day we arrived and the children ran straight for the nearest ice-cream seller!! They climbed into the cab of a fire engine whilst I stood around pretending that the double buggy and five children were nothing to do with me!

demonstration

There was a demonstration of their tall ladder/platform thingy! It took ages to wind up to the height needed, I hope it’s got a faster speed for a real emergency!

Ohh that's high

Demonstration

They rescued a dummy, to the disappointment of the children who were hoping it was going to be a real man.

Then they went into the back of an ambulance and had their heart rate and oxygen sats measured, I think Malc came out as dead brain dead anyway! His heart rate was 70 and he was told it shoud be 99, but the ambulace lady told him it slows down as you get older, which went down like a lead balloon I have to say!

We took the flats, so pictures of them had to be taken.

We walked back home, our friends came in for a cup of tea and the children played outside blowing bubbles which Eden had bought.

Mum came up for tea again, bearing ice-cream for pudding, so she was made very welcome!

We’re all shattered after a very busy weekend, Malc has the day off tomorrow as originally we thought Marion and Stephen were staying longer, so we’re hoping to get a lay-in.( Fingers crossed)

I’ve spent an hour this evening on the phone to my old school friend, I needed some information about something for another friend. Sarah and I have known each other for 34 years, whenever I talk to her it’s just like I saw her only yesterday, we just pick up from where we left off. I haven’t spoken to her for a while so I told her about my blog  and hopefully she’ll be reading this.

Thanks Sarah, I rang my other friend and relayed the information you gave me, it was gratefully recieved, I hope you get a lot of fun out of reading what we’re up too.

  4. The photo of Cody draining his bowl reminded me of one of my older ones, who did that and then when the bowl was empty promptly put it on his head - he was less than a year old at the time and it raises a good giggle.

Looks like fun was had at the fire station event too. :)

  5. I would have thought Malcs heart rate went up with your best knickers on LOL!!! Reminds me of living in the nursing home when we put our best pjs on, set off the fire alarms and waited to be rescued.
